CLOUD 9 (Acoustic Version) – sam.i.am. (Original Song)

Recorded: July – August, 2013
Writer(s): Sam Luong, Tokyo Speirs
Producer: Tokyo Speirs

SYNOPSIS:

An original song, “Cloud 9” is a coming-of-age story that explores the many themes of growing up – the journey through life and discovery; following your heart and dreams; the excitement of venturing into the unknown; and having faith in knowing that despite whatever outcome, everything’s gonna be alright.

Written a year ago about the uncertainty of my own post-graduate career and life, the song idea (initially titled “Paradise”) was finally composed into “Cloud 9” after my encounter with two incredibly talented artists and producers from Toronto, Canada.

LYRICS:

The tide is turning
The weather’s clearing up
Looks like it’s time to raise the anchor

Deliberating
Whether this World’s enough
For me to mine a vein of answers

(Hey, ey)
I’m searching for a new kind of treasure
(Hey, ey)
I’m off on a new adventure

So I’m sailing through the sky
On the atmospheric tide
This almost feels like, it almost feels like cloud nine

With no compass in sight
My Heart will be guide
Soaring in the wind of my paradise

Life is a Journey
The road to growing up
Is paved as far as we can wonder

As we’re Exploring
The flow that carries us
We’ll leave a wake of dreams and wonders

(Yeah)
I’m steering through uncharted waters
(Yeah)
I’m off on another adventure

So I’m sailing through the sky
On the atmospheric ride
This almost feels like, it almost feels like cloud nine

With no compass in sight
My Heart will be guide
Soaring in the wind of my paradise

And Ooooh,
Beyond the moon,
Beyond the moon,
Someday I know I’ll make it too
Even if the stars
Are a little bit too far
Atleast I got my sail as a parachute
(x2)

But for now I’ll keep aiming
A little higher, higher, higher

Oooo, oooo, oooo

The tide is turning
The weather’s clearing up
Looks like it’s time to raise the anchor
